In the early days of the Choir we would sing settings of a Mass liturgically, often accompanied by a small orchestral ensemble, establishing another important relationship – that with The Eye Bach Choir Orchestra – which continues to this day.
Initially, our orchestras were made up from friends and acquaintances of our founders from personal contacts in the musical world. Nowadays, the orchestra is sourced from a wide range of talented local instrumentalists, most of whom are music teachers, semi-professional players, or gifted amateurs, throughout East Anglia.
The orchestra is specially formed for each concert, depending on the piece being performed. Unlike the choir that rehearses for several weeks before a concert, the orchestral players will perform after one, or at most two, ensemble rehearsals. It is a measure of their musicianship that they are able to do this, and we are very grateful to all those players who have performed with us over the years, many of whom have also become great friends.
